How to Sign Into Zoom

From a Computer

The DOE single-sign on page will appear:

  • Sign in with your DOE credentials
  • You're in!
  • You should see your NYC DOE Zoom account page. From here you can change your profile picture, and schedule, join, or host meetings.

Important: You can only sign in if you have an email address that contains any of the three domains below, you can access and use the NYC DOE Zoom platform:

  1. @schools.nyc.gov (administrative and school staff)
  2. @nycstudents.net (students)
  3. @doeexternal.nyc (external service providers)

Using the Computer Application

  • DO NOT fill in any field.
  • Select the "Sign in with SSO" button at the top of the right-hand column.
  • The Sign in with SSO screen will display with two fields.
  • Type "nycdoe" in the blank field.

  • Select the "continue" button. It will take you to the NYC DOE's Single Sign On Page.

  • Sign in with your DOE credentials
  • Important: You can only sign in if you have an email address that contains any of the three domains below, you can access and use the NYC DOE Zoom platform.
  1. @schools.nyc.gov (administrative and school staff)
  2. @nycstudents.net (students)
  3. @doeexternal.nyc (external service providers)
  • You'll see the "This site is trying to open Zoom meetings" screen. Select the "Open" button.

  • You're in!
  • You'll get the application's meetings landing page. You can now navigate throughout the app using the top menu, schedule a new meeting, or join an existing meeting.


From a Mobile App

  1. Launch the Zoom mobile application.
  2. Click "Sign-In". The App's "Sign In" screen will display. Select the "Sign in with SSO" button.

  • Two fields will display: One is blank, the other has ".zoom.us" in it.
  • Enter "NYCDOE" into the blank field.

  • Tap "Continue".
  • You will be brought to the DOE sign-in page.

  • Sign in with your DOE credentials
  • You're in!
  • You should see your NYC DOE Zoom account page. From here you can change your profile picture, and schedule, join, or host meetings.

From an Email/Calendar Invitation

  • First, make sure you have configured your account in Zoom.
    • Follow the directions above for "Using a Computer."
    • If you don't, you may get an error message saying that your account is not valid.
  • Once you've done that, click on the Zoom meeting link in the meeting invite. The following screen will appear:

  • If you have Zoom installed on your computer, Select "Allow"
  • If you do not have the Zoom app installed on your computer or device, deeper on the screen you'll see "Join from your browser." Use this to join the meeting.

  • If joining from a mobile device, you will be prompted to download the Zoom app before accessing the meeting.

 How to join via Email invite

Click the join link in your email or calendar invitation.

Depending on your default web browser, you may be prompted to open Zoom.

  • If you have Zoom installed on your computer, Select "Allow"
  • If you do not have the Zoom app installed on your computer or device, deeper on the screen you'll see "Join from your browser." Use this to join the meeting.

  • If joining from a mobile device, you will be prompted to download the Zoom app before accessing the meeting.

 How to join on Windows | Mac

  1. Open the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Join a meeting using one of these methods:
    • Click Join a Meeting if you want to join without signing in.
    • Sign in to Zoom then click Join.
  3. Enter the meeting ID number and your display name.
    • If you're signed in, change your name if you don't want your default name to appear.
    • If you're not signed in, enter a display name.
  4. Select if you would like to connect audio and/or video and click Join.

 Android

  1. Open the Zoom mobile app. If you have not downloaded the Zoom mobile app yet, you can download it from the Google Play Store (look for the Zoom app).
  2. Join a meeting using one of these methods:
    • Tap Join a Meeting if you want to join without signing in.
    • Sign in to Zoom then tap Join.
  3. Enter the meeting ID number and your display name.
    • If you're signed in, change your name if you don't want your default name to appear.
    • If you're not signed in, enter a display name.
  4. Select if you would like to connect audio and/or video and tap Join Meeting.

 iOS

  1. Open the Zoom mobile app. If you have not downloaded the Zoom mobile app yet, you can download it from the App Store (Zoom App).
  2. Join a meeting using one of these methods:
    • Tap Join a Meeting if you want to join without signing in.
    • Sign in to Zoom then tap Join.
  3. Enter the meeting ID number and your display name.
    • If you're signed in, change your name if you don't want your default name to appear.
    • If you're not signed in, enter a display name.
  4. Select if you would like to connect audio and/or video and select Join.

 Web Browser

Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Go to nycdoe.zoom.us.
  3. Enter your meeting ID provided by the host/organizer.
  4. Click Join.
    • If this is your first time joining from Google Chrome, you will be asked to open the Zoom client to join the meeting.
    • You can check Always open these types of links in the associated app to skip this step in the future.
    • Click Open Zoom Meetings (PC) or Open zoom.us (Mac).

Safari

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Go to nycdoe.zoom.us.
  3. Enter your meeting ID provided by the host/organizer.
  4. Click Join.
  5. When asked if you want to open zoom.us, click Allow.

Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer

  1. Open Edge or Internet Explorer.
  2. Go to nycdoe.zoom.us.
  3. Enter your meeting ID provided by the host/organizer.
  4. Click Join.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Go to nycdoe.zoom.us.
  3. Enter your meeting ID provided by the host/organizer.
  4. Click Join.
    • If this is your first time joining from Firefox, you may be asked to open Zoom or the Zoom installer package.
    • To skip this step in the future, check Remember my choose for zoommtg links.
    • Click Open Link.

 

 Messaging

If you are online, with the Zoom desktop client or mobile app, others will have the ability to send you a meeting request via instant message. You will receive an incoming message notification displaying who is calling along with a ringtone. Select Accept to join the meeting with the person who is calling you.

 

Telephone

  1. On your phone, dial the teleconferencing number provided in your invite.
  2. Enter the meeting ID number when prompted using your dialpad.

Note: If you have already joined the meeting via computer, you will have the option to enter your 2-digit participant ID to be associated with your computer. If you have not joined on your computer, simply press # again when prompted to enter in your participant ID.
